Sights to see around Le Vivier Campsite
If your final choice is Le Vivier, know that a forest trail is all that separates that location from expanses of white sand. At our seaside campsite, you will have the chance to discover the joys of swimming in rolling ocean waves or in one of three nearby freshwater lakes, not to mention pleasant strolls on long beaches and through magnificent pine forests. You and your family will be able to go from the campsite to the fine sand of Vivier Beach for swimming, sunbathing, surfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding or any of a large number of other activities on offer. Biscarrosse has several surfing schools and yacht clubs that offer classes tailored to your skill level.
During your time in the Landes, don’t forget to take the time to explore the area around Le Vivier Campsite and discover the region’s treasures. The seaside resort is very pretty, with architecture that is typical of the Atlantic coast of France. We also recommend visiting Sainte-Bernadette and Saint-Martin Churches.
The Seaplane Museum is another local must. It is located on the site of an old air base for transatlantic seaplanes, right by Biscarrosse Lake. And for good reason: hundreds of these planes took off from this town, with some of the routes going as far as the West Indies or North America. The museum is exceedingly well staged. It is varied and well documented, in a way that allows visitors to relive these aerial adventures through photos, videos and documents.
If you press on a little farther, Bordeaux will welcome you with open arms. We definitely recommend you spend some time immersed in the city’s superb heritage. Explore the narrow streets of the old town, visit Bordeaux Cathedral and Pey Berland Tower, Place de la Bourse and its reflecting pool, and the MMM maritime museum.
Lastly, to wrap up your holiday at our campsite in Biscarrosse on Vivier Beach, we suggest spending a half-day or at least lunchtime on the Lège-Cap-Ferret Peninsula. It’s the perfect place for dangling your feet in the water and enjoying oysters from small-scale producers in the region.
